Società Agraria (Agrarian League) was founded in Turin 24 May 1785 by an edict of the King of Sardinia Victor Amadeus III, to promote for the benefit of the public land cultivation mainly on lands belonging to Her Majesty in accordance with appropriate rules and comply with their varied nature. ". This creation was made at the initiative of a group of scientists and scholars, imbued with the spirit of the Enlightenment, including Sebastiano Giraud, Vincenzo Virginio, Giulio Carlo and Benedetto Bonvicino. The organization has subsequently received a royal statute, February 15, 1788 becoming the "Reale Società Agraria ', and is now known since 1943 as the" Accademia di Agricoltura di Torino " (Academy of Agriculture of Turin) [1].
