Banana Boat Song is a traditional folk song calypso, Jamaican workers in the banana industry. His rhythmic melody and chorus are very famous and easy to learn. Day-O (The Banana Boat Song) is a Jamaican mento. The best-known version of this song is sung by Harry Belafonte. It is often cited as an example of calypso while mento and calypso are two distinct styles. The first record is that of singer Edric Connor Trinidad with his band "The Caribbeans" in 1952 on the album Songs From Jamaica; the song it called Light Of Day [1].
