Christian Dior

Christian Dior (b. Granville, France, January 21, 1905 - m. Montecatini, Italy, October 24, 1957) was an influential fashion designer, founder of the fashion company that bears his name, Dior, one of luxury brands most representative for the XX and XXI centuries. Christian Dior was educated by the diplomatic service at the Ecole des Sciences Politiques in Paris. Then, he began working in the fashion industry. In 1946, backed by textile magnate Marcel Boussac, (called the "king cotton") established a couture house in Paris. In twenty years expanded its business to 15 countries and employing over 2,000 people. Also diversified the business to other luxury products like perfume or jewelry, with a resounding sales success. Some of the most legendary compositions in the history of perfumes bearing the Dior label. He is best known so-called "New Look" of 1947 (nickname given by an American journalist), a fashion style for women that offers shapely shoulders, thin waist and full skirt corolla as eight inches of soil. It represents classical elegance and a return to a feminine image, and involved the recovery of luxury and excess depression after World War II. Came to say in an interview in 1953, after being asked What's the queen most liked wearing it, that the only queen who dressed, was Eva Peron. In fact, came to have such an affinity to the glamorous former first lady of Argentina, who had a dummy with measures of Evita in his workshop. [1]. After his death, Dior has continued its activities with other renowned designers: Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré and John Galliano. Dior has dressed celebrities such as Diana of Wales, the first lady of France Carla Bruni and the Infanta Elena of Spain, among others.
