In the late twentieth century hectic, Oscar Wilde, a dandy lit, twirls of worldliness in discreet rendezvous, where a tragedy has changed his life. As it prepares to write The Picture of Dorian Gray, he discovered the body in a furnished a young boy he knew. Everything seems to indicate a ritual murder. And as a faithful friend, Oscar Wilde has vowed not find rest until justice has not been made for Billy Wood. The story takes place in 1889 and 1890 but it is told in 1939. When Gyles Brandreth is the narrator of Robert Sherard's history, we can already admire the idea. So the testimony of Robert that accesses this tumultuous journey that leads subtly his good friend Oscar Wilde. By accompanying it closely throughout the investigation, (re) discovers a truly fabulous character of the late 19th century. Cab rides to social functions, everything is! We won the first page as much by the characters and the London atmosphere that we are rendered with incredible realism, by the style and intrigue. The first few months of friendship between Oscar Wilde and Arthur Conan Doyle described as if you were there and some good words of Sherlock Holmes dot the story ... In the dialogues, there are sentences that Oscar Wilde was actually written (and that one finds, for one or the other, in The Picture of Dorian Gray (he is writing at the time of the story)) and it is with pleasure that I immersed myself in the various references Dickens, Wordsworth (including Robert Sherard is the great grand-son), Congreve, etc.. Besides this, the plot is very well revealed in the narrative, so we suspect turns each character in the novel. It was also entitled to notes of the translator's footnotes very rewarding and far from cumbersome.
