Can you imagine learning English at an exotic beach, white sand and crystal clear waters? May sound somewhat remote, is much closer to your grasp than you think and is a good way to raise the holiday with learning English. Fiji is an island nation, that is, consists of islands, situated in the southern Pacific Ocean in Oceania. The country consists of over 300 islands, of which 110 are always occupied, plus some 500 islets. The archipelago has 850,000 inhabitants. The first inhabitants arrived on the island was coming directly from Southeast Asia in the seventeenth century, but the Europeans did not arrive until the nineteenth century. Fiji became a British colony in 1874 and was for nearly a century, when it gained independence hasta1970. Fiji has forest resources, minerals and fisheries and is one of the most developed economies of the Pacific. The main source of income for the country are sugar exports and the growing tourism industry, with over 300,000 tourists a year have visited. The culture of the islands is a mosaic of traditions and religions because of the mix of indigenous traditions, India and Europe. The native culture has characteristics between Melanesian and Polynesian, although he was heavily influenced by Christianity. Fiji's capital Suva is a city, but other towns include Nadi, much visited by tourists or Loutaka, the capital of the country's sugar production. In addition to its stunning beaches and scenery of the exotic country and its beautiful cities, the inhabitants are very hospitable and open people, the result of the coexistence of cultures and religions. In short, Fiji is indeed a very special place to learn English as well as the trip can be an experience for those who always seek originality and adventure in their travels.
