Milton Hyland Erickson, (born December 5, 1901 at Aurum, Nevada, (USA.) † Phoenix, Arizona, (USA.) 1980) was an American physician and hypnotherapist, innovative and pioneering change hypnosis techniques applied to psychotherapy. Erickson was born in 1901 in Aurum, a small city-now defunct-de Nevada. His family, consisting of his parents, seven sisters and one brother, emigrated to Wisconsin, [1] where his parents ran a farm and the whole family involved in the work. Afflicted with polio at age 17, [2] and given up by the doctors, had time and nerve to recover the working movements introspection and mental control, so it became a way of addressing the psychological problems in an original and autosuggestive, skill or characteristic which then applied to cure his patients. [3] His strength of will enabled him to overcome the disease and graduated in medicine and psychology, worked as a psychiatrist in many institutions and, later, as professor of psychiatry. Strong emphasis on the role of the unconscious, understood not in the manner of Freud, but as a reservoir of personal resources to solve by itself the problems of each individual. [4]. Milton Erickson laid the foundation for important lines in brief psychotherapy. Among those psychotherapeutic approaches include the following: neurolinguistic programming, Strategic Systemic Therapy, Therapy Solutions-oriented among others were influenced by the thought of Erickson. [5]. The origin of their particular style of therapy can be found on his personal experiences as individuals and how he faced his illness, and although hypnosis was an important tool, the basis of its therapeutic model was the change in the other person through interpersonal relationship. [4] The therapeutic model does not respond to any medical school, excluding the influence of psychoanalysis, behaviorism, and systemic therapy. ? ab HERNANDEZ CORDOBA, Angela.
