The Ombra della sera (literally "Evening Shade") is a statuette, Etruscan votive object type filamentary Volterra discovered and named by Gabriele D'Annunzio. It is a statuette filiform, any length, one bronze from 57.50 cm (which is reminiscent of the elongated distortion of the statues of the sculptor Alberto Giacometti). It dates back 2300 years, the IIIesiècle Ave. AD, after the ancient smelters in the region of Volterra-rich ores. It is preserved in the museum Guarnacci (museum with Etruscan antiquities of Volterra, including a collection of alabaster urns). It was probably discovered before 1737 by a farmer (the legend says he would have used for years as a poker before anyone realizes it was a masterpiece of Etruscan art) because the Florentine Antonio Francesco Gori in the historical record in the collection of the aristocratic family of Buonarroti. Then, after 1750, is found in possession of the prelate Guarnacci Mario (1701-1785) who had enriched its collections and its most famous piece. Statuette votive similar (and more crown, broken or truncated [1] to his legs, torso lengthened) at the National Archaeological Museum of Umbria in Perugia.
