Penny Lane is a composed by Paul McCartney and John Lennon of the Beatles song. It was on 13 February 1967 along with Strawberry Fields Forever as a single with two A-sides released. The two pieces were equally important, the group would not or could not give preference to the other and thus banish the B-side. The recordings for Penny Lane were held in the first two weeks of January of 1967 in London's Abbey Road Studios. The piece was produced by George Martin. Penny Lane is a street in Liverpool, who, because of the popularity of the song, again and again the street signs were stolen, so they were eventually replaced by painted versions. The street is where John Lennon and Paul McCartney grew up.
