Njegoš Princess Jelena Petrovi?-Montenegro (January 8, 1873, Cetinje - November 28, 1952, Montpellier) was the daughter of King Nikola I Petrovi?-Njegoš of Montenegro and his wife, Milena Vukoti?. Jelena on the union of a King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy on October 24, 1896 she became Queen Elena of Italy (Regina Elena in Italian). Due to the Fascist conquest of Ethiopia in 1936 and Albania in 1939, Queen Elena defendants used short titles of the Empress of Ethiopia and Queen of Albania as well. Both titles were dropped when her husband formally renounced these titles in 1943. She is considered the most influential woman in Montenegrin history, because she reigned over the Italians (as Queen of Italy) from 1900 to 1946, the Ethiopians (as Empress of Abyssinia) from 1936-1941 and the Albanians (as Queen of Albania) from 1939 to 1943. She even influenced her husband (the King of Italy Victor Emmanuel III) into the hall Mussolini to create the independent state of Montenegro in 1941. She subsequently obtained the release of a German prison of Prince Michael of Montenegro (who refused to make the King of Montenegro fascist) and his wife in 1943. Mafalda Maria Elisabetta Anna Romana (1902-1944), married Prince Philip of Hesse-Kassel (1896-1980) with the release, she died in Nazi concentration camp at Buchenwald. Umberto Nicola Tommaso Giovanni Maria, later Umberto II, a king of Italy (1904-1983) (and following the abolition of the monarchy, separate) married Princess Marie Jose of Belgium, with issue. Giovanna Elisabetta Antonia Romana Maria (1907-2000), married to Boris III, King of Bulgaria, and mother of Simeon II, King and later Prime Minister of Bulgaria.
