Salvatore Ferragamo

Salvatore Ferragamo was a small Italian shoemaker, born in a family of eleven brothers and sisters. He tried his luck early on in the United States. In 1924, he created a mule with its eastern edge reversed shaped lamp of Aladdin. In 1930, his shoes are firmly rooted in cinematic work of Cecil B. DeMille with the creation of the gold kidskin sandal with pyramid-shaped heel. It has clients like Greta Garbo, Katharine Hepburn, Marlene Dietrich, Ava Gardner and Gary Cooper. Its secret lies in its perfect knowledge of the anatomy of the feet, enabling it to offer its customers shoes suited to their size foot. In 1938, it provides shoes for the film The Wizard of Oz with Judy Garland and created for her the platform shoe in suede. Salvatore Ferragamo (June 5, 1898 - August 7, 1960) was an Italian shoe designer. He worked with several Hollywood celebrities during the 1920s before returning to Italy to found his eponymous company to produce hand-made shoes. His scientific and creative approach generated several innovations in footwear, including wedge heels and cage. Movie stars and celebrities continue to sponsor your company, which has become a luxury empire that has expanded worldwide. Salvatore Ferragamo was born in 1898 in Bonito, Italy, being the eleventh of fourteen children. After making his first pair of shoes at age nine to his sisters-in-day confirmation, young Salvatore realized his calling. After studying shoemaking in Naples for a year, opened a small store located in the home of his parents. In 1941 he emigrated to Boston, United States, where one of his brothers worked in a factory of boots for cowboys. After a brief stint at the factory, Ferragamo convinced his brothers to move to California, first to Santa Barbara and then to Hollywood. That's where he found success, initially opening a shop to repair and make shoes for the measure, which soon produced valuable items for celebrities and film industry of the time. However, his reputation as 'Shoemaker to the Stars' only partially satisfied because they do not understand why his shoes pleased the eye, but his feet hurt, so I entered the University of Southern California to study anatomy. After spending thirteen years in the United States, Ferragamo returned to Italy in 1927, but this time he settled in Florence. They began to create fashionable footwear for the richest and most powerful women of the century, from the Majaraní of Cooch Behar, to Eva Peron and Marilyn Monroe. In 1929 he opened a workshop in the Via Mannelli, focused on the design and patented ornamental and utility models, and other inventions. Although it declared bankruptcy in 1933 due to mismanagement and economic pressures, Ferragamo has expanded its operations Durata the 1950s with a staff of nearly 700 skilled craftsmen, who produced 350 pairs of handmade shoes every day. One of his most notable creations was the "heel cage." Fiamma, the eldest daughter of Salvatore, who died in 1998 - inherited his father's inimitable talent and created in 1978 the pumps, "Rod." Salvatore Ferragamo Museum opened in 1995. Located on the second floor Feroni Spini palace, the museum extends over four rooms and features a collection of more than ten thousand set up by Ferragamo shoes for more than four decades, from 1920 until his death in 1960. The museum also has a collection of vintage shoes from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, a collection of costumes from 1959 onwards, a collection of bags since 1970 and a large archive of documents.
