The term is also used to define the whole family of these memory devices, Memory Stick. Within this family includes the Memory Stick Pro, a later version that allows for greater storage capacity and file transfer speeds higher, Memory Stick Pro Duo, a smaller version of the Memory Stick and Memory Stick Micro or M2 size of a microSD card and much used in mobile phones. Currently several companies have marketed Adapters Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick Pro that allows you to use microSD card memory cards in devices designed for a Memory Stick. Normally, the Memory Stick is used as a means of storage for a portable device, so it can be easily extracted or card information to a computer. For example, Sony digital cameras use the Memory Stick to store images and video. With a Memory Stick reader, usually a small box connected via USB or other connection where you can use a standard pen, a person can transfer the images Stick in digital cameras, digital music devices, PDAs, cell phones, PlayStation Portable (PSP), and other devices. Despite being owned by a particular brand or due to the stubborn support of Sony's format, Memory Stick has outlived most other flash memory formats of other brands, and its longevity is only comparable to the CompactFlash and Secure Digital.The original Memory Stick was about the size and thickness of a chewing gum and come with capacities of 128 MB to 2 GB.Después Sony introduced Memory Stick PRO Duo, more memory capacity than the normal stick, coming to be between 4 and 32 GB.
