World Day of the Volkswagen Beetle (Beetle) was held last Sunday at home with a display of varied models of these popular vehicles in the premises of the Piazza Volkswagen, Avenue Kennedy Ortega & Gasset corner. The activity took place between the hours of 10 am to 5 pm, organized by the supporters' clubs of the famous "brushes" the Volky Club Quisqueya, Santo Domingo and Cibao Volky Volky Club Club, and was sponsored automotive company Avelino Abreu, C. A., exclusive distributor of the Volkswagen brand in the Dominican Republic. During the event were shown all the models and designs of this brand, to the delight and enjoyment of the fans of this iconic model which has had a presence throughout the world. The history of this car was born with the concept of "people's car" in the 30s in Germany, Adolf Hitler's time thinking about the working class as the industry attempted to design accessible vehicles for social masses of this nation. From there, the British tried to control of Volkswagen in the hands much more skilled, but few were interested. Finally, in 1949 he relinquished control of it to the German government, named as director Heinrich Nordhoff, a choice that proved quite successful for everything shown in its management in the coming years. Volkswagen began to export to neighboring countries and from 1950 began producing its famous Beetle in South Africa and soon came the convertible in the automotive market. His entry into the United States did not have a very auspicious beginning. However, the mid-50s, the situation has changed favorably.In addition, for those times, Volkswagen had managed to build a plant Beetles in England and one in Brazil, as well as South Africa.
