My name is Erin and I am the owner of Lady Maxick Soapery. It is my great blessing to have been swept into the meditational and moving work to hand soap. Read on for the facts and details of fun on my trip. My sister Brooke for many years led a backpacking trip in Switzerland. On their journey, she found the soap-loving old named Frankie who eventually became his way to San Clemente, CA to visit my sister and her mentor in the art. Through learning, little bungalow with my sister by the sea was alive with soothing breezes soap, big bowls of crushed herbs and ... many friends and neighbors looking to sneak in, waiting for pieces of soap for themselves themselves. Inside I was drawn immediately!. I started working along side my sister and refine our process, pouring over a battered old book of soap that Frankie had left us with (full of their own notations scrawled hand, olive oil stain and tips and secret techniques). I cherish this little book and sits atop one of my soap curing shelves as we speak. I take that drink now and then for inspiration! And, I still use one of the wooden spoons Frankie! (Some of my soaps are original creations of Frankie! Can you guess which?). Each batch of our soap is brewed by hand (by me!) In the "boiler set method." This means large pots, wooden spoons and lots of arm muscles!. There are a lot of preparation all the time principal thrilling when I pour the perfect hydroxide lye or sodium temperature of `'in the hot oil boiler and melted on my watch as the magic begins! Immediately, the stirring phase of the hand (with Frankie imposed spoon!) Gets underway. Stir and stir, thinking peaceful desires, thoughts, expansive, and simple prayers for friends and strangers who find enjoyment in the bar soap to come! Something specific to each batch!. Around 12 minutes when the mixture begins to "trace", time passes with the essence. Exact action is required so the soap cools prematurely! Stir with a past, added botanicals crushed and put the soap "to bed" - pour the creamy liquid into molds to be less cozy layers of woolen blankets stored hot (20 hours) to allow the soap to continue the process on its own. The covers come later! Gently remove the soap and put it firmly in my curing shelves where another 24 hours in the open air. And finally - I hand cut blocks of fresh fragrant bars of soap with me custom wood cutter soap and fits perfectly!. I am always tempted to grab a few bars and there and then to jump right into a bathroom! Of course it is best to wait a couple of weeks to let water evaporate kept out of the bar, but ... a girl can not help sometimes!. attracts moisture to your skin.
