The Shedra, or college studies, Rigpa form gradually over several years a small group of students in Buddhist philosophy, in art of debate in traditional Tibetan and Tibetan. This training program has begun in the West, at Dzogchen Beara and Lerab Ling and continues for five years in Nepal, under the direction of Khenpo Namdrol, one of the most prominent Khenpos Nyingma school. The curriculum is designed to meet the needs of the Rigpa sangha in general, in addition to the teachings of Sogyal Rinpoche and courses offered in different Rigpa Centres in the world. Completely non-sectarian, it includes the writings of the most important Indian and Tibetan masters, including works on the sutra and tantra. Teachers who comment these texts are Khenpos acharya and highly skilled. Additional tips and lessons are also sought from llamas that have a link with the Rigpa sangha. Besides the study of classical texts the most important, students have the option of studying Tibetan, and all major and minor science studied by the Pandits of India and Tibet, which includes the history of Buddhism India and Tibet, Tibetan medicine, astrology, grammar (according to the main treaties of Tibetan grammar), poetry and the arts. The Shedra now offers its own intensive training in translation from Tibetan. The first group of students began in May Namdroling Monastery in southern India. Namdroling, the largest Nyingma center in the world, was established by His Holiness Penor Rinpoche, and hosts more than 4,000 monks and nuns, and now, eight students of Rigpa. Accompanied by our instructor, we now fully immerse ourselves in the Tibetan language. Our daily classes include the study of classical Tibetan, Tibetan spoken and guardian of the monks and nuns, as well as sessions of listening and understanding with a Khenpo.
