At maximum engine speed and maximum gas flows, the blades are opened, increasing the input area to the turbine, preventing and reducing excessive blowing pressure turbo to save fuel. The Garrett ® VNT ™ turbochargers are some very complex units through calibration engineering and managed to reach the parameters required by car manufacturers. The first requirement is to calibrate the point of "minimum aperture of the nozzle." This intricate process has a number of steps and a minimum tolerances, also involves the use of sophisticated instruments such as the flow bench to measure and compensate for variation in the exhaust gases through the blades of the turbo nozzle. Skilled and technical experts calibrated and sealed the "minimum aperture of the nozzle" to achieve the requirements of each application. Only when the "opening of the nozzle minimum" has been achieved, it is possible to calibrate the turbo (to 3 decimal places) using four benchmarks for ensuring the operation. As these steps are very complex, is why Honeywell distributors for aftermarket "Aftermarmet" have been forced to supply only turbo new Garrett ® VNT ™, turbos that have secured the same technical characteristics as those supplied to manufacturers.
