Ellen Vera Wang (New York, USA, June 27, 1949) is an American fashion designer. Acquired worldwide recognition for its collection of wedding dresses. [1]. In 1968, Vera competed in figure skating championships in the U.S., even appeared in "Faces in the Crowd" of that year's edition of Sports Illustrated. When it failed to enter the U.S. Olympic team, she entered the fashion industry. Wang was the editor of fashion magazine Vogue for 16 years. In 1985, she left Vogue after being turned down for the post of editor in chief. Vera joined Ralph Lauren as design director for two years. In 1990, she set up her own design studio in the Carlyle Hotel in New York. Vera Wang has designed costumes for figure skaters, including Nancy Kerrigan and Michelle Kwan. He also designed the wedding gowns of major celebrity: Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, Avril Lavigne, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Garner, Sharon Stone, Uma Thurman, Sophia Bush and Holly Hunter, among others. An outfit designed for the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer appeared in the episode "The Prom". Sarah Michelle Gellar, the actress who played Buffy, also used one of their wedding dresses for her wedding to actor Freddie Prinze, Jr. Vera was also responsible for designing the two-piece uniform worn by the cheerleaders of the football team American Philadelphia Eagles. Wang has expanded its brand to the fragrance industry, jewelry, eyeglasses, shoes and kitchen utensils. He also wrote the book "Vera Wang on Weddings" [1] was launched in October 2001. In 2002, Vera Wang began to enter the home fashion market. In June 2005, was named Women's Clothing Designer of the Year by the CDFA (Council of the Fashion Designers of America). Arthur is the manager of a technology services company called Navisite. Both have a vacation home in Pound Ridge, New York, where Vera's brother owns the Pound Ridge Golf Club.
